a silly little film clip of me and tonys usc student film.

checking in.

I find it so interesting how I have encountered so many people with what I thought were similar goals & dreams to mine, and how they have completely & comfortably let go of them. Am I the crazy one?? I mean, of course not, but it might appear that way. There are so many people in LA who move out here saying they want to be actors and it's such a phony thing. I too am guilty of that. I don't think I really want to be an actor. There's nothing very fun about acting like other people. Sometimes playing a character is fun, but mainly because you are making people laugh. I didn't move to LA, or grow up for that matter, to pretend to be someone else through acting. I did it to look inward & expand outward on the person I really am. I think that's why I am so drawn to stand up comedy, because you are just YOU YOU YOU. and you're trying to make people laugh, which is the most fun thing ever. it's just like playing. being funny is like playing house. but 'acting' is so serious.

it's one of my philosophies in life that we are often times trying to chase our childhoods. i think that's part of all the LA movie star thing.

im grateful because since being in LA im really starting to enjoy other people, which is something i never got to really do in college. boy i hated college. what a yucky weird thing. as medeoker as it gets. in no way do i bash education, because i love reading and learning and working hard. i just feel like i love learning so much, that i dont need an institution to tell me what to learn and when to learn it. blahblahblah, its just a rainy day and i feel yucky because of the rain AND because i ate a little more cookie dough that i should have. and im waiting for tony to come home so we can enjoy each other.

a note about how i left school

hello hello... this was originally meant for facebook but i got shy so here it is on my blog::

so to my family members and friends that are confused, here is a quick little update.

i was in school at the university of illinois. 2 hours south of chicago. my parents made me go there. sort of like boarding school.

half way through my junior year, right after a vacation to mexico with mom& dad, and a few months after i started stand up comedy, i decided, declared really, that i was leaving school to move to los angeles. so on my 21st birthday, i moved home, started a job and loving on my mom and dad for six weeks before i was moving to LA. it was actually a really fun and cool unique time. the biggest question, what did your parents say? well, it had been a long time coming. and there's always gonna be a lot more to the story than i can put here, but my dad just finally accepted that i was miserable at school and my moms support followed shortly after. (basically they hate me.) just kidding. i do think if they had their way i'd be a writer for playboy magazine & i'd live at home with them. forever. that's sort of my fantasy too.

so, one of my roommates from college who already was in LA flew in town & we drove back together in my dads car. well actually, he drove the entire way.

to be continued...

Pilot

Tony & I are working on a very special project that we are excited about. I know that just about everyone living and working in Hollywood says that all the time, so it's hard for that to really have any meaning. No matter what happens, we are going to have a very special little 30 minute pilot episode of a hilarious television show that is brilliant and wonderful. It's so exciting for me because it's an opportunity for me to display a character that I have been grooming every single night of the week on stage late night at the comedy store since I've been living in Los Angeles. So for me, this project is extra extra special, because it's my body of creative work, something that I created and came 100% out of my little half jewish half regular brain. Anyone who gets to see the episode will truly know its the character I was born to play. I can only say all this because I know no one will see this blog!

Malibu!!

a couple weeks ago we spent the night at benji's house in malibu...the next day we made a bagel sandwich with eggs and spinach. we hollowed out the bagels so we dont get fat. but of course tony left his bagel regular since hes a skinny little supermodel.

Double Oh No!

Our farmers market was closed this week so that is sad!! hehe its really not a huge deal but it sort of is because no matter how hard we will try, we'll probably eat a lot less produce this week. Yesterday (I was sick and tony worked all day) the only produce I ate was grapes! and I had steel cut oats and chips and hummus. that's been our latest guilty pleasure is hummus & chips from trader joes. my fave snack from back home. sort of a naughty one.

i also had movie theater popcorn from when i went to see funny people & then i brought the leftovers to tony at work. awwww.

oh! another guilty pleasure! i've had these new animal crackers called 'snackimals' from whole foods in chocolate chip flavor and snickerdoodle flavor. SO yummy. i wanted to buy a big bag but tony snapped me out of it.

annndd...i've been begging tony to take me to a really hip and trendy place on Santa Monica Blvd. called 'millions of milkshakes' where celebrities create their own shakes. I really want a Miley Cyrus shake, and we were planning a trip there this weekend (its probably a 7 minute walk from our apt.) but now that i 'm sick, i'm thinking this isn't the best time to slam a lot of dairy and sugar for the first time in 2 months.
:(
it's okay, it'd be terribly unhealthy anyway. such a gimmicky thing. i really like miley cyrus right now though hehe...there's also a britney shake. but the miley one sounds better. i'm not even going to say whats in it because its too naughty to be printed on this blog.

have a healthy day! eat some fruit!

Welcome to September.

Okay, so those headshot posts are obnoxious, so I may delete them. Life is going great in West Hollywood. Tony & I are about to get very busy with some cool things & continuing moving forward with our comedy.

I'm sick right now (oh no!) so I'm just trying to enjoy life as best I can & look forward to being healthy again.

We will both be performing in the Sunset Strip Music Festival this friday and saturday so that is something exciting.. that I best be healthy for!

And also, once I'm healthy again I will begin a better exercise regimine..And, Tony has just started a protein supplement (soy protein from whole foods bulk section mixed with silk chocolate soy milk) I say this is too much soy but he ignores me on that one. But it's true, soy is overrated and too much is not good for you. Soon I'm going to switch him to almond milk instead.

Our apartment is also looking a little sloppy but that should be taken care of soon too...A couple random auditions for me this weekend & that's about it for now.

Keep staying positive & healthy, and to our followers, if you haven't yet tried steel cut oats, or quinoa, i reccomend that as a very great place to begin your healthy transitions.
